This is true, the ADAT optical interface is capable of 24 bit ... > At a big online store in Germany the yamaha Adat Interfaces CD8-AT > for the O2R Information says it works only up to 20 Bit. > I work on an O2R and i like to change to 24 Bit Recording. The Yamaha Adat - interfaces for the 02r, 03D mixers are only supporting 20 bit signal data! (take to mind, that all the AD-convertors in these desks are also "only" 20 bit) BUT: If you do yourself a favour ( ;-) , get a TC UnitY card, with the optional ADAT / TDIF interface! These are damn cheap at the moment, and you will get two effect-processors, AND the ability to handle full 24 bit digital audio from and to these cards ADAT interfaces ! > I´m a bit confused now what is real? > > I already now that the yamaha CD8-TDIF works with 24Bit. > > I like the lightpipe system as itself because its very comfortable. > The thin cables, easy connection and so on. > But whats about 24Bit Audio on 8 Channel? Don´t forget to mention, that these cables isolate your computer from your mixing desk, so no hum noises could occur this way ... ;-) > Hope someone out there knows the truth and maybe more > about jitter, clocking precision,... on this interface - maybe related > to TDIF and AES/EBU. I´m working since about two years with a 02R, Unity card(s) and a RME Digi 9636. No problems so far ... If you have anothe question, gimme a mail (german accepted .-) ) Greetz Harald www.synfreak.de
