If it is OS X you are trying to update, the next version was 10.1, which 
is a paid upgrade (about $20). That may be why you are getting the 
message. Unfortunately if your friend wants to use anything in OS X, 
virtually everything requires that 10.1 or later.

Here is a message from the Absynt list .... it sounds like OS X is becoming a 
MUSIC OS. Microsoft will never give this much importance to music :

Along the same lines, Apple has just released the AudioUnit spec for plugins 
(I
believe it will show up in 10.2).  Given that this spec offers the same 
promise
for performance improvement vs. VST, does this not look like the best way
forward?

I think Apple is getting it dead right here with these OS-level services.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
