Hi Arvid,

If you read German, then here's the first public announcement I saw:
http://www.mediabiz.de/newsvoll.afp?Biz=mu&Nnr=115626&NL=MA

I'm sure tomorrow the english sources will catch up.
And I guess www.bmg.com will soon contain the info as well.

Cheers,
Joeri

I believe it makes them a one-deep record company now, instead of two. Now
Britany's label Jive is only two-deep, meaning less middle men and less pie
sharing. I may be wrong as I don't know any more about the situation that the
original post.

It means the biggest Indie is gone... it's a symbol. You'll hear a lot
of indie organisations crying.

Also, it shakes up the major scene as well: I think EMI might be headed
to become the smallest major.

It also means a lot of people will lose their jobs: today already, Zomba
announced that it's closing two of its Scandinavian companies. The
entire catalogue and artist roster will merge under the BMG umbrella so
several artists will lose their contracts as well. This move has a lot
of implications for lots of people.

Hmm, being a BMG/RCA artist myself I've never been aware of the Zomba/BMG connection. Are you sure of this? We have to compete a lot with Whitney Houston etc. for the "inhouse attention", but never Britney, Nsync, BSB, etc. ;-) BTW AFAIK Jive is a sub label to Zomba, but I'm not sure.

Yep, you're the best catalogue for RCA Victor (sorry, bad joke referring
to your name ;-).

This is definitely correct.
BMG already owned 25% of Zomba and BMG also did all distribution of
Zomba in the US.

So far it was only distribution, not artist contracts. This might now
change... although I think RCA will hold up well: you've got a good chief.

Correct. Jive is a label of Zomba and Zomba is now owned by BMG.

Yeah, wish I was! ;-) Aron is really haunting the BMG corridors, especially around Xmas times!
