If you like a factory atmosphere, it's the place to go. Bah. It's been a while since I was there (1979 - 81), but it was only a little bit of a factory the first two semesters. After that all the 19-year-olds who only became interested in music the year before (and just want to play guitar with their shirts off) drop out. Then it becomes a fantastic environment with lots of great musicians from all over the world and some excellent faculty. And the academic classes I took were excellent too. You're going to hear good and bad things about any school, but I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. >> I agree completely. My experience at Berklee was life changing. I would recommend thoug, if you are intending to earn a degree from there, go ahead and take your core General Education courses at a community college before you go there... No need to pay that level of tuition for History, English composition, etc... AND... the bookstore has workbooks for many of the core music classes. ANYONE would benefit from these, even if you don't attend the college. You'll want to do some prep work before going, and understanding the Berklee systems for harmony, ear training, and arranging COULD put you way ahead of the game going in.
