The Logic Off Topic list

I am about to shell out on a new PC recording system based around a P4 
with 256mb running Logic Audio and a muliple I/O card, probably the 
MAudio Delta 1010.
I had budgeted for a small mixer as well, but it has just dawned on me 
that as Logic supports audio input monitoring through its virtual 
mixer I do not really need one, as I would only be using it to mix the 
audio output from my sound sources to run along side the digital audio 
recorded on the computer.
However as I am entirely new to Logic Audio I am not sure as to how 
well this would work in practice, particularly in respect to latency 
on the monitored audio inputs. If anyone could gush forth as to the 
practicalities of mixing between 2 and 5 audio input signals along 
with digitally recorded audio on the PC, I would be most gratefull.

p.s are there any major differences in performance between Logic Gold 
and Platinum as regards audio inputs?
