Motu 828 / SCSI card for G5

Motu 828 / SCSI card for G5

2003-12-09 by ewald_kegel

Hi there,

I was curious to know if any of you LUG-gers has experience with the
Motu 828 MkII together with OSX.3 and latest LAMP version.

As I'm thinking of moving to the G5 platform soon, I'm also
interested in your views on good SCSI PCI(X) cards for the G5 DP.

Thank in advance, Ewald

Think about sharing the load on your MAC on the different bus, FW Audio is
not a good idea if you work on big projects especially if you have already a
FW disk.
I will look to a PCI system like the Motu PCI 424 (NO LATENCY with CUE MIX)
;-)))))) (I have one)

Why do you want an SCSI card on the G4 ?

Ah, thanks for the info on the 828, Cyril. I have no experience in
using FW Audio, but can imagine the strain on larger projects. So the
424 + 2408 might be a better solution.

On my current system I have a lot of Gb's in SCSI HD so I'd like to
use them in a new set up. Looked up some prices and it's cheaper than
buying new hard discs.
