[OT] Two button Bluetooth Mac Mouse

[OT] Two button Bluetooth Mac Mouse

2004-02-02 by Paul Stephenson

I was wondering if anyone knew of a Bluetooth mouse that works with the
G5 Apple boxes. I have a Bluetooth Mac keyboard and it works great, but
I have to plug my USB mouse in somewhere so I am not currently using it.
I don't want to get the Apple Bluetooth mouse b/c it only has one
button, and I do like two buttons.

I would love to get rid of the wires.

Thanks in advance,

Paul

Hi Paul,

The Logitech MX900. They're great mice and have lots of buttons.

I'll second the mx900. I was using the microsoft bluetooth mouse but
wasn't happy with it. the logitech has been much better (it hasn't lost
sync yet, which the ms one always seemed to). however you only get use
of the 2 buttons plus the scroll wheel. The other buttons (two on the
side, two extra on the top) are not useable, because logitech hasn't
released a mac driver yet. but its a *very* nice mouse.

It's too expensive of a mouse not to be able to use 50% of the features.
Shame on logitech for no mac drivers.

Agreed.

I'm still using an MX500 wired mouse. The convenience of wireless for me is offset by the
annoyance of rechargeable batteries and the occasionally missed mouse-click. It has all
the buttons of the MX900 (and 700) but runs with a wire. It's a fantastic mouse and fully
programmable.

I use button 8 for expose. :)

Is it programmable differently for each application?
Do the drivers work with Panther?

The word on the forums is that drivers are coming. Logitech has always
had pretty good mac support. The wireless, however, really does make it
worthwhile imo. The only cable I have to deal with on my powerbook is
the power cable, and that's only when my batteries are depleted.

Well I just bought a 900 the other day for work not realizing that there
were no mac drivers, I just assumed there would be. Now if you say drivers
are coming I'm not sure if I should exchange it for a 700 like I planned (I
use a 700 at home). You say you only have your power cable to the computer,
does the mouse work with your built in powerbook bluetooth? So there is no
need for the big a@# base station thing to be connected to the computer, you
just need it for recharging?

Don't take my word that drivers are coming :) The rumors on the forums
is that Logitech will have drivers available, but tech companies are
finicky...

Exactly :) I have the base station just plugged into an outlet on my
desk at home and I drop the mouse in each night. The built-in bluetooth
on my powerbook works great and I would assume that all built-in
bluetooth macs would work just as fine.

Awesome Wesley.. I am sold MX900 for me in a few days.
Sweet.. excited..
