Standalone ModWheel unit?

Standalone ModWheel unit?

2004-04-24 by broadlawner

Hi,

I'm using a Yamaha P-80, 88-note keyboard as my controller into Logic, but it has no
PitchBend or Mod Wheel on it. Does anyone know if there exists a little, standalone,
velcro-on-the-end-of-your-keyboard ModWheel unit? I can't help thinking I've seen one
in the dim distant past?...

Much appreciated.

Hm, I don't recall seeing mod-wheel specifically. Maybe if someone
could hack up a midi driver for an analog joystick you could graft one
of those onto your keyboard. ;) (It's a "Thrustmaster"!)

seriously though, I've got a Korg Kaoss Pad which also transmits MIDI
control values in two axes. It would do the job of a pitchbend and mod
wheel but you'd have to program Logic or your MIDI interface to
recognize the values it's emitting. You might be able to find the
first generation Kaoss pads on Ebay for a decent price...

OK, well thanks anyway. I looked at the Kaoss pad in the store, but it's bit overkill for what
I need. Maybe it's time to get a new keyboard...
