Hi guys.

Background
Been in Music Prodn since daysof Notator on Atari.
I use logic pro on a G5 with RME / LUCID interface/ convertors.
Been through the 02r SOny Oxford route between 1997 to 2003
and decided to go back to my old TAC Board over the last 12 months.
LOVE the return to analog. no longer brittle and harsh mixes.

SITUATION
Wanted to move ON re a replacement mixer (TAC is now 12 years old)
and am requesting any thots from those that have crossed this bridge..

possiblities
a) Dangerous Audio 16 to 2 Buss
Pro.: no mixer. clean, not too expensive
Con.: by the time u pay for the monitor section and more channels, costs goes up
difficult to multi track drums for eg.. need lots of Pres to do direct input into M/track
What about surround for film

b) not sure of any analog mixers to consider.
The AMEK NEVE Media 51 is a consideration
but no true total recall, just lights that tell u where you should be on the eqs/sends etc..

am also considering the RME MADI as a possiblity to get more than 26 outputs 
seeing as our beloved EMAGIC does not allow using multiple hardware since "UP"grading to OSX...

used to do 2 Multifaces to get 56 outs. cant do that in OSX..Boo!
Bought an 002 thinking with a digi HW i could use DAE simultaneous with Core audio.
was wrong and now have an 002 sitting in the rack purely for Protools conversion to and from...Logic PRo...

anyone know what the deal with WAVEBURNER is now there is no OSX WB support....

I went with PTHD with the API8200/7800/7600 rackmount based system and just
got a 10 slot lunchbox full of API 512c mic pres. So now I have big fader,
little fader, and enough pres to track a pretty serious drum session. Plus I
got to get rid of so many cables and a few patchbays and have less problems
when I change something in my studio around now, everything sounds awesome,
got the Mackie Control Universal with 2 xt¹s so I can use with Logic and w/
Pro Tools for doing automation Rides, and it CLEAN, FAT, PUNCHY and just
plain awesome, I actually put an older SSL Logic FX G384 Compressor over the
2-buss, but its the old one not the new POS silver one. IN any case, I am an
SSL guy and have been for a while but this system has been so awesome I have
not been in a studio to do a mix in many many months as most of my clients
have been extatic and so have I.

My recommendation is to abandon the analog board, unless you¹ve got a big
room and a big enough wallet to invest in an SSL G or old API or something
like that, the best results I¹ve got have been with a good summing buss a
good front end and enough processing power to have a party.
