Over her, Klotz and Zeck are doing very good cable qualities and there's never been anything wrong with Neutrik plugs either. Monster Cables aren't worth their money. And now they are even less. I hope this company goes to hell - and yes, I'm serious. Btw, anybody as offended as me should drop them a line: http://www.monstercable.com/company_info/contact.asp I told Mr.Graham that I would print out the Denver Post article, add a request to boycott monster cables and stick copies of that into all the classrooms I'm teaching in at the local music university. I'm actually done with printing.allready... I added that from now on out studios would be 100% monster cable free zones (they allready are, but they will remain like that as well). Seriously, this just can't go unanswered. I sincerely ask all of you to a) write Mr. Graham a reasonable but honest mail and b) don't buy anything of that company anymore until they changed their strategies. - Sascha

Anyway I won't be buying Monster Cables until they change their ways, which isn't very likely. Unfortunately, over here the only two store bought cables that are available localy and worth consideration are Monster and Mogami all the rest are low line garbage...unusable unless you like the noise it adds to your recordings. Off to send that boycott letter now. -Steve __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The all-new My Yahoo! - What will yours do? http://my.yahoo.com

Sascha, I haven\ufffdt used and will not use Monster cables. Yes, Klotz/Zeck/Neutrik is what I\ufffdve been using for a long time, too. The brand name thing sounds like things Graevenreuth did/does here in Germany (you probably know that), it\ufffds stupid fucked up interpretation/misuse of the free market system... :-( Peter --- http://www.merlinsound.de Sascha Franck wrote:

Seems as if Monster Cables are into these policies for quite some time allready. Read this: http://www.madmartian.com/legal/ Make sure to read the dude's response to their apology - there's some quite funny stuff in it, such as: > Number of children who imagined there was a monster under the bed: probably millions > Number of children who imagined there was an audio interconnect cable under the bed: probably none. That somewhat made my day. - Sascha

> I agree, problem is the alternative, a better but > more expensive cable in Mogami. In a way, yes, but look at it the other way: there are several companies (such as Acoustic Research, which is what I use) that make equal- or similar- quality cabling for half the price of Monster cables. Add to this Monster's dubious business practices (which I won't get into here, as it would open a whole new debate about the current state of over-over-over-over litigation in the world today, as expemplified in the Denver Post article) and I would quite simply never purchase any of their products under any circumstances. Monster cables certainly don't suck (in the way that Radio Shack does!) but they're quite simply not worth the price for that quality level. If you step up to Mogami, etc. then you're no longer comparing apples to oranges, because Monster and Mogami are not in the same league at all. My .02, Brian

You'll get no argument from me and I won't be
purchasing Monster cables now, I know there are better
cables out there for the money. I was just saying that
Monster's or Mogami's are the only choice at the local
music center and I won't buy on-line. So I guess from
now on it'll be Mogami's.

Big Corporations have lawyers that just seek that kind of crap out. Planet Hollywood made a (then) small (25 seat) restaraunt called Planet Thailand change its name to Plan-eat Thailand. retarded

Despite all you read about identity theft, etc. it's safer than ever to buy online (from *reputable* dealers, of course).

I bet Cookie Monster has already had his people call their people. It's like that spoof press release where Metallica had supposedly copyrighted the chord progression from E to F and were in the process of suing everyone who used E or F chords for royalties. Corporate America is a bunch of scumbags for the most part. flex

It's not that, I just hate to do returns,if needed
online...it's a drag, not to mention time consuming! I
have bought things on-line, like all the components to
put together the computers I have, didn't really have a
choice there...purchased everything from one company,
with only one return so-far, knock on wood. That one
return was still was a drag. Plus I have bought cables
that were no good right out of the gate.

> It's not that, I just hate to do returns,if needed > online...it's a drag, not to mention time consuming! True, true... I've had mixed success with returns from online shopping. One of the reasons I choose Sweetwater over Musicians Friend and Zzounds for music stuff is their support and support policies. The big three for computer stuff (MacZones, MacMall and ClubMac). And Amazon to me sets the benchmark for what online shopping should be... But beyond those there are of course tons of lesser-capable online vendors whose procedures and policies are sometimes very questionable, or if nothing else just plain difficult to deal with! I rarely buy from the retailer (online or otherwise) with the absolute lowest price, because for in order to give me that lowest price something is being sacrificed somewhere else. Service to me, service to their own employees, etc. Sweetwater provides better service than anyone I've ever dealt with, and that is worth spending a bit more for IMO. That having been said I have purchased from Zzounds in the past and have no complaints, but they're not in the same league with Sweetwater (or Mercenary, for that matter) in terms of service and tech support.
