Problem converting GOS gig files to EXS24.

Problem converting GOS gig files to EXS24.

2006-02-17 by Jim Seaman

Hi,

I received my Garritan Orchestral Srings last week but cannot get the
gig files to import or convert to exs files.
I copied the Gigasampler files into the Sampler Instruments folder.
When I try to load a gig file into the EXS24 I get a dialogue box
saying:
"insufficient access priveledges for operation
REULT CODE = - 5000"
This happens for each sample I have tried to load.
I'm not sure if my error is mac, logic or GOS related.
I'm using a dual 1gig G4 with L7.1.1 on OS 10.3.9
Thanks for any helpful hints.

Jim

Hi Jim,
Things copied from Cds tend to be write protected, if this is the
case simply change them to read and write. Okay okay this is a
nightmare to do by hand (as it were) but you can use a batch program
to do it, in Tiger there is 'the automator' but I don't know about
Panther (Lets look up more OS names in the book of big cats ;-) ).
I'm sure someone can suggest an App if this proves to be the problem,
Mike

The program you need is freeware, it's called BatChMod - easy to find
on google.

It's a simple program that puts an interface on a standard unix
script. It will change permissions on a folder and every file inside
it which can be many files, so be alert with your choices when you
use it.

This is a very timely topic for me since I'm about to
install GOS. However, I don't think its OT in the
least. Maybe it should be moved to the EXS list?
