ADMIN Handling of OTs to the LUG

ADMIN Handling of OTs to the LUG

2001-06-18 by Per Boysen

Joeri,

I don't know if this is possible to do but I guess you know. Anyway, this is
the idea:

Subscribe everyone to both list. If someone happens to post an OT to the LUG
just change the address so it will appear at the L-OT. Then when all the
lovely "AUIs" do their replying the entire thread will take place at the
L-OT.

It simply doesn't work to ask people to "take this thread to the OT list".
If we all are subscribed to both list it really doesn't matter - we'll get
it anyway but those who wish not to can auto delete all L-OTs. Well, this
was just a thought, don't know it's a tip or a vision...

ciao

Makes sense to me.

That's the intention.

I'm afraid I can not moderate on subject line. I can only moderate "people",
which means everyone would then be moderated. Can't do that, sorry. All replies
would have a delay then + it would be a full time job.

The subject lines stuff worked, so I think this can work as well.

Indeed! And they can unsubscribe or put their account in web-only mode etc.

It's a wonderful idea, but technically it's impossible right now. :-(

Bye,
Joeri

Hi all,

Personally, i think that things should remain as they are. People must be
encouraged to subscribe to the OT list themselves. Compulsory subscription
is not appropriate IMO, but OTT OT posting (sorry :-))should be moderated.
Or perhaps, is there a way of stopping mails with "OT" in the subject line
from getting through to the normal list Joeri?

Well, people can do that now if they use filters etc.
