Hi David, I personally use KRK V8's and I'm very happy with them. The choice of monitors is very personal because it depends on your taste. Try to get them for a test in the place where you'll be mixing. That's what I did before buying mine. Watch out with subwoofers! You need to position them very well etc to get a "neutral" setup. Personally, I wouldn't recommend that if you're about to buy your first monitors. If you can afford it, buy active monitors: very handy and sounds well imo.
