Hi Don, I am one of them open source guys that makes life difficult for you. ;-) You have to expect some problems with many open source tools (o well,,, with closed source tools as well to be hounest) but if people like you contribute back (in your case publish the steps you went true to get it all to work) it will be simpler for everyone else coming after you and the maintainers can possible add your info to the docs or change stuff in the software. This is the essence of the open source movement. We have to share code, send in patches and share knowledge between each other. There is no support to phone to get help. If people don't do this the tool(s) will not move forward quality vice. I understand well the thinking that buying a compiler from Keil or IAR etc can be a great advantage for many people. Also as they today create more efficent code. But using Eclipse (which IMHO is a very good IDE) with GCC one can have the same compiler/environments for many, many target environments. And you can reuse knowledge from different platforms. But in the end this is just a matter of personal preference.
