RE: [lpc2000] PLL and analog ground pins

2005-11-18 by Dan Beadle

The key is to keep the ground very quiet. If you don't have any
significant ground currents flowing in the area, tying to digital ground
appears to work just fine. But the recommended approach is to have a
separate ground path and tie that to the digital ground via a low pass
filter. This can be a ferrite or simply a resistor. The key is to
isolate the digital ground from the analog ground. Usually, you will
want all your analog inputs tied to the same analog ground. This is
usually only important for low-level analog signals where you need low
noise and low voltage signals. For crude measurements, like measuring
battery level, the separate analog plane is not required.

Does anybody have any recommendations on
what to do with the PLL and analog ground
pins?

One of the Philips documents says
separation, but didn't go in to detail.

Thanks
Dan
