Lpc2000

i guess there is no problem with connections - since it was working and suddenly stopped for some strange unknown reason :-<

Further to my previous post, have you checked the integrity of the
connections between the RS-232 connector and the LPC2106? You might
simply have a bad solder joint somewhere.
