Hi Danish, There is no limitation with the short cable. You could always get a DB25 M/F cable to extend the connection btw ARM-JTAG and your PC. ARM-JTAG works well with CrossWorks. You could start working on it without any setting. As for the IAR, you may follow the environment setup given by Olimex support: http://www.sparkfun.com/cgi- bin/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3D2129.
