You could program a small FPGA or CPLD to generate VGA, it's quite easy and only needs a few resistors for a simple DAC. I've done it with one of my FPGA boards, but haven't tried hooking it up to an MCU. You do need a 25.175 Mz oscillator, I've got plenty if you need one. Leon
