I don't think it's that uncommon to have 3rd party, consultants and
others
write app notes, as you get more expertise from people in so many
different
areas. Many other vendors do this. If you're a consultant with Microchip,
they
even pay USD 1,500 for an app note, and credit your name. (at least they
used to).
Pity it's not outside US.
By the same token, I heard that Philips Australia had to send FAEs to
US
to be trained on LPC2000.
