Speaking of Wi-Fi, an SDIO Wi-Fi card could be a low cost solution (SDIO is SPI in simple terms). Sandisk and Socket makes such a SDIO Wi-Fi cards. The major issue here is rather the manufactureres don't give out the specification of the card.
