Lpc2000

I think yahoo has offered a quality product allowing us to host these 
great discussion groups. However I believe we have (for sometime now) 
grown beyond a simple yahoo group. Plus with the limits on file uploads 
and the annoying advertisements it isn't exactly ideal.

I would like to start a thread on setting up a community run (no 
commercial sponsoring) site devoted to the LPC2000 family. In fact, due to 
the overwhelming popularity of the other ARM7 variants, an ARM7 site would 
be ideal.

I believe I have a solution. A while ago I registered arm7.org with the 
intention of hosting my build scripts plus other ARM7 documentation and 
information pertaining to ARM7 (see my site at rod.info/arm.html for more 
info on my scripts and other links).

Instead, what I think would be very beneficial for the ARM7 community as a 
whole, would be to create a CMS (content management system) with email 
discussion groups, wikis and file hosting. With such a site all of the 
yahoo groups could be moved over to a limit and advertising free 
environment.

I have a virtual dedicated server at an ISP with lots of disk space and 
bandwidth. I would be willing to lead the administration of such a site if 
I could get people interested in helping out.

One thing I promise is to never elicit advertising through this site. If 
you know me, or have perused any of the websites I maintain (see rod.info 
for some links) you are aware that I am not commercially orientated (I 
don't even put links to my employer on my personal web site). We will of 
course have links to ARM7 commercial ventures, yet there wouldn't be any 
commercial sponsoring (i.e. paid advertising).

The first thing I would like to do is canvass this list to find if there 
is general support for such an idea.

The next step would be to find volunteers with LAMP (Linux Apache MySQL 
PHP) experience who are interested in helping administrate the server (for 
starters you would get shell access on a Linux box).

After that the volunteers and I would select a CMS system to provide the 
basis for this site. And then we will see where it goes from there!
