Have you looked at the Sony Color LCD Module ACX705AK. Its cheap on Goldmine electronics (http://email.email.secureserver.net/view.php?folder=INBOX&uid=66) and still in production for end products. 9 bit color and 1/4 vga so shouldn't be too bad to drive. I bought one a while back, but the connector stopped me from doing anything with it (its VERY small and hard to find for a hobbiest), designed to be used in PDA's bla bla bla... Jeremy
