My research on this says that j-link comes with the "j-link server"
software, which is very similar to OCDremote. It should support gdb. 

I haven't found any drvier that supports a USB JTAG device on linux,
but USB support on linux has been pretty thin in general.

The IAR USB device is probably a re-branded version of j-link. I'm
guessing these probably have identical circuitry, given IAR's tendency
to outsource hardware development to other companies.
