Hi,
what are 2438 and 2338 ? I suppose you meant LPC but I failed to find such chips on Philips website. Maybe LPC2138 and LPC2148 implied ?
Then you should think about using some of the LPC22XX series with external memory interface. Their main disadvantage is a limited amount of flash & ram. But maybe it does not matter for your project...
