According to an article on page 67 of the April 2006 SERVO magazine, LEGO NXT is an ARM7. This is going to make a lot of programmers very happy! Preorders shipping July 1. See http://tinyurl.com/qaqyl It should be an interesting summer... Richard

...but only if you can reprogram the kit in native code (like the H8-based brick). I suspect that Lego won't close the design and will allow replacement firmware. -- Paul Curtis, Rowley Associates Ltd http://www.rowley.co.uk CrossWorks for ARM, MSP430, AVR, MAXQ, and now Cortex-M3 processors

And I guess it's not too much of a secret that I was one of the original 4 Mindstorms User Panel members. Feb 2006 Wired. I'll be able to talk more about it after May 1, 2006. Ralph

Well, I entered for the 100-off "let's evaluate NXT" kits, and would have been perfectly happy in producing a plug-in package for CrossWorks for ARM to allow development of apps for NXT, probably FOC. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected. :-( Oh well. I still have two bricks and all the Mindstorms accessories which I let my sons play with. I believe, at last count, we had spent over £5,000 on Lego between the five of us in the family that play with it, so the next house (which I've just purchased) is having an extension built with a room specifically set aside for Lego.
