This thread is starting to annoy me (and maybe others too)
Look, if you're not happy about it, and you won't use the Philips parts anyway,
what's the big fuss then ? Just use whatever other part you want to, and leave
other decisions to the actual users, no one else seems to complain.
I think Robert of Philips has demonstrated a great deal of patience.
;
That's the whole idea of an eval, people can and should evaluate *their*
application and go from there for this stuff.
Seems to me you're just here to shitstir things.
I only wish other parts had the kind of prompt direct feedback from the vendor
as displayed here. (refreshing, given Philips' precedence of support)
Keep up the good work Robert.

See what I mean... When you are persistent, it ticks off some people.
Some people just don't get it.

micro, did you notice that Robert "thanked" me for my persistence?
That was the only reason that I continued to ask further. If he does
not like the question or does not want to answer, I think he can
decide that for himself and respond appropriately.

I am not here to "stir things up". I think I am making a valid point
that the information that he is willing to provide to us here, should
be available to everyone considering the chip. Not many users will
find their way to this group. Also, not everyone wants to build a
board just so they can measure the current. I don't think very many
eval boards provide for current measurement points.

I do agree about the support. It is very nice to be able to ask
questions and get them answered quickly. Thanks Robert and the others
from Philips. You are doing a good job here.

But like I said, I need the larger 144 pin chip in a smaller package,
so I am not too worried about the data sheets for myself. I was just
trying to help. I won't bother you any more... :)

Not me. All those questions and answers are very important to me.

Hehehem, what kind of reply is that? If you do this to one customer,
you'll run out of bussines very soon.

Not true. I am very interested in LPC parts, their power consumption
and package size. I was asking those questions (and lot of others) at
the local seminar about LPC family. Unoftunately I didnt' get
answers.

That works for hobby projects. Can you imagine the company evaluating
various boards, measuring characteristics etc. instead of making money
with final product? I can't.

And please redsp, bother us! This is the way to make things better.

They are important to me too, but I don't see the point of that series of postings
a la " The OKI does this and that so much better than your Philips, and the Atmel
does this like that".
Why is one on a Philips LPC2000 forum then ?
THAT'S the part that annoyed me.
If MCU XYZ doesn't do what I want, or I can't use it, I won't be frequenting a forum
about it, and regularly posting, "yeah, but the LPC2000 is much cheaper, and it's got more RAM,
and the pin count is much lower, its current is much lower than XYZ etc etc"
What's the point of that ??????
I hope that better explains my post.
I appreciate some of the postings that redsp makes/made, but I wished he'd
just give it a bone on the lack of current figures in datasheet.
Redsp's altruistic claim that it is to "help others" is not very convincing.
Do you regularly post on like 20 other MCU forums about current issues there ?
Didn't think so - that's my point - if you, respectfully, "get the point".
Anyway, let's leave it there, I'm entitled to my opinion too, and that was just mine.

As above, this is irrelevant.

So am I, but I measured them instead of constantly bleating about it.
How can a datasheet possibly cover all permutations of a user's config ?
that's riiculous.

So what do you do ?
Look at the datasheet, and design a full-on application PCB from that ?
Of course not, that's just silly - We all do a prototype - and if someone can't be bothered
to spend 15 minutes doing their current tests, then that's just plain lazy IMHO.
