how easy to burn out?

how easy to burn out?

2004-05-16 by cpexed

I have an olimex development board i am using. I applied power today
and it didnt seem to be functioning and just got really hot(the
lpc2106 chip itself). Asssuming i can find the issue with the board
would it be likely that my lpc2106 is still in working condition or
completly fried? I need this for a university project and am on a very
limited budget and cant afford a replacement.

Measuring the voltage across the input power pins (9 volts) dropped to
about 3 volts so i dont know where the other 6 volts went. Tried
probing around but didnt want to fry my chip any more. Thanks

Josiah

The chip might be faulty and drawing lots of current. Contact Olimex, they
should replace the unit.
