Re: [lpc2000] Where to buy/alternatives

Re: [lpc2000] Where to buy/alternatives

When I bought them a couple of months ago they were shown as in stock at
Arrow and I ordered them online, but I see they're not in stock now. In
fact there are no LPCs of any type in stock. Maybe they're suffering from
too much popularity.

Availability is also a concern for me. If I use the LPC series in my
designs I need to be able to get reasonable quantities at reasonably short
notice. Arrow was the only place in North America that I found that would
sell in quantities less than 200.

Availability, plus the lack of code protection, has me reconsidering the use
of the LCP2106, I but need more processing power than PICs or 8051s provide.
I switched to the LPC from Cygnal.

Can anyone suggest any alternatives of equivalent power and capabilities to
the LCP2106 that they have considered that have better availability, and
code protection?

I like to think that that's actually what's happening,
and not otherwise. I mean, if they ar that popular (as
they seem to be), it's very likely that they will be
stocked more and more avery time.

That's the same for me, small quentities at sort
times. But maybe abit worse, considering that i'm not
located in the USA, nor Europe, nor Asia/Pacific: I'm
in Colombia, South America.

That's exactly why are we considering ARM based chips:
more pines, more power, etc.... And LPC2xxx seems to
be a well balanced implementation in terms of ease of
use, flash memory, pins, etc.

There has been a recent post in the group about
alternatives with code protection.
