LPC part ID weirdness?

LPC part ID weirdness?

2005-08-18 by DECwiz (Fred van Kempen)

Hi all !

I am testing a board for a company, and ran into something really
weird. The board is using an LPC-2292 device.

My software uses IAP to determine the LPC Part ID, and, based
on that, sets certain values and flags, the most important ones
being flash/sram size, and whether or not the device (and, thus,
the system) supports the EMC or not.

However, these boards all return the ID for the LPC-2194, even
though they have 2292's. This obviously means, that my software
will disable the EMC stuff, meaning, no external memory, and no
external I/O devices.

My table has the following ID's for these two chips:

LPC-2194 0x0301ff13
LPC-2292 0x0401ff13

which seems to be consistent with all manuals and tables I can
find regarding the ID's.

Is this a known issue with these chips? Philips, listening ?

(PS: the Phlips Flash tool also "sees" an 2194 !)

Thanks,

Fred
