Hi , I have ordered some LPC213X and LPC214X samples from Phillips's web site. Does anybody has experience with this service and could you comment on how fast they usually come ?( this is North America). Thanks.

I would recommend you to contact your distributor. Here in Denmark (Europe) if you order samples from the Philips website they never arrive although we have a company and use Philips parts... I always have to contact my distributors their samples from the website, apparently doesn't work if you reside in Denmark. I know of several other Companys here in DK that have the same problem. Atmel is even worse at giving you samples they arrive approx 3-5 months after you order them with a nice bill from Arrow that will make you sweat They have the nerve to charge horrible freight and handling fees on free samples. I ordered two 8mbit data flash devices from atmels website as samples in Marts and got them last month with a bill reading 60$ Maxim / Analog / Linaer / National / OnSemi although are great company's if you need to sample a part. Maybe Philips should look into this as its pretty lame... Best regards Lasse Madsen Electro Logic I/S

If you want the fastest service (only a day to most U.S. or Canadian
cities) try Digikey. I just checked and they thave quite a few LPC213X
parts in stock.
Even though my Arrow rep can get samples for me for free, it can take a
week or so. Digikey can get them to me in a day. Digikey makes procuring
parts for prototyping and medium production runs fast and easy (no I am
not a paid shrill).

I agree Digikey is great source for low volume fast - order today, have it tomorrow. EXCEPT... They don't have LPC214x yet - I have some on order for 11/2 delivery. Dan _____

Just a "me too" to say mine have arrived today (Monday) 7 days (5 working days). I ordered 2xLPC2138 and 2xLPC2148. Only the 2138s arrived though. 2 chips, in strange (but secure) square chip holders, inside an antistatic bag, inside a cardboard box, inside a jiffy bag, inside a FedEx Tyvek bag. All the way from Hong Kong! Good speed, but must have cost a fortune with all that packing, and all the way from HK. Mike

Sometimes Texas send some, but with a lot of restrictions. I allways have to buy some on Farnell to start working. It is possible to get samples from local distributors, but if you are a small design center (like me) it is very hard to obtain samples...

Thank you Philips. Just another Me Too as well, I asked for 2x2438, 2x2338 and 2x2292 (not sure which route I wanted to go), and 4 business days later I received 2x2338 the same, in static bag, in box, in bubble envelope, in fedex envelope, from Honk Kong. I figured that because I asked for too many (even though it clearly says on the website that 6 is the "respectable" limit) that they only send me 2. So I put in a request for 2x2438 (can't even buy those locally), but then the next day I got another shipment with 2x2292, same packaging, same source. I wonder why they didn't ship them all at the same time? I also put in a samples request from Atmel (SAM7S series) and got a phone call from All American wanting to talk about volumes, etc. Philips just sent them without any trouble at all. Thanks Philips!

I received my sample today. I took only 4 days to arrive to Greece!!! I never got any sample from a local distributor. They think that you must first order (or give a promise to order) some billions of pieces to be granted the right to take one sample. The only drawback, is that i only received only the 2138. I already bought some of them. I did not received the 2148 i requested. Do anyone knows why? Thank you Phillips. --- In lpc2000@yahoogroups.com, "seangra" <sgraham@o...> wrote:
