we have the following in our sendmail.cf:

...list.sock, T=C:5m;S=30s;R=30s;E:5m

seems to work fairly well in conjunction with a script that tails the
logfile, catches repeated failures (usually due to the daemon
crashing...), and restarts milter-greylist.
