jurgen,
it is an extremely simple design !  it trades off precision for basic 
functionality and uniqueness. it is worth adding to a modular on this basis 
alone plus, for me, being interested in algorithmic type sound structures, it 
helps create the ability to do logic desicions in conjunction with electronic 
switches and assorted sources of c.v. or gate/trigger/timing functions.
