Al, At one time I was curious about this as well, so I did a little digging and here's what I found: Spectrol 148 Conductive Plastic: +-20% tolerance, 100,000 rotations half as noisy as the 149 wider available resistance ranges Spectrol 149 Cermet: +-10% tolerance, 50,000 rotations handles twice the power of the 148 more temp stable & can handle higher temp BTW: mouser.com lists these as the same price.
