Is it ok for me to skip board washes? Like to do two instead of four. How 
crucial is this. It kind of seems like alot to wash the board in the middle of a 
resistor stuff for example. Thanks.

Yes, as long as the time is *less* than 1 hour between washings. NEVER stop 
soldering and then not wash for overnight.
