RE: [motm] Switch for 900?

2008-09-06 by John L Rice

Hi,

Check out David Brewster's site here
http://pugix.com/synth/portable-rack-cabinets/ He mentions one he used
that is similar: " combination AC inlet, power switch and fuse, Schurter
IEC320 AC I, (Mouser 693-4304.6090) for $9.00"

Inspired by David's site I'm using similar cabinets and power supply setup.
I decided to get 'fancy' and use a more expensive AC inlet that has line
filtering, even though it may not be of any real value (I whole heartedly
believe in over kill! ;-)
http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?SKU=6894156&MPN=864-03%2
f003&R=6894156&SEARCH=6894156&DESC=864-03%2f003 It's $30 plus tax and
shipping though!!!! ;-( Besides filtering it has voltage selection and
since the PowerOne can accept 120 or 220 AC, I thought I would wire it up
with an inlet that could be switched. (I've NEVER traveled to England or
Japan etc and have no plans to do so but . . . obsessive compulsive behavior
doesn't like to be ignored! ;-)

If you look at Allied's main page for power inlets they show a 'Top seller'
for $8.50 that looks like it should work too. And there is a mind boggling
TON of different models to choose from!

Best of luck!

Subject: [motm] Switch for 900?

Does anyone know a mouser/digikey number for the switch that's used in
the 900 power supply? I've got everything I need for the power supply
in this new cabinet I'm building except for the switch - and as
everything else in it is up to motm specs, I'd like the switch to be too.

Thanks!
