Well.... at it's most basic function it behaves as a envelope generator similar to the MOTM 800. I think you probably already know typical uses of envelope generator. The enhancements of the UEG is that it is multistage. There are 8 times and 7 levels that it can traverse. A normal ADSR would have 4 times and 3 levels. The cool thing about the UEG is that each level is adjustable, where as the ADSR, only the "sustain" level is adjustable.
