Well.... at it's most basic function it behaves as a envelope generator
similar to the MOTM 800. I think you probably already know typical uses of
envelope generator. The enhancements of the UEG is that it is multistage.
There are 8 times and 7 levels that it can traverse. A normal ADSR would
have 4 times and 3 levels. The cool thing about the UEG is that each level
is adjustable, where as the ADSR, only the "sustain" level is adjustable.
Look at the little graphic on the image:

Some of the unique aspects of this module is the looping function and the
selectable slope. There will be a full writeup on the website in about two
weeks.

Maybe, it really depends on the success of this module. It takes a lot of
time to do this, and basically I need to spend my time on things that will
allow me to earn an income. (just like anyone else) One or two or even a few
modules won't do it, but these and other things as a combined income will.

Of course I can't sell modules that no one wants either. Just because it's
designed an built doesn't mean that success will happen. That is one reason
why I sub' to many lists to try and read the pulse of an industry, even if
it's a cottage industry.

tony,
when the module is available be sure to spread the word through the whole
modular synth community. i know it`ll take me a bit to ahve the money to buy
one but i definitely want one! it is one of the most unique module
implementations i have seen in some time and deserves to be a success.

If you want to see a *bad* photo of the prototype, look here:

tony, looks awesome. built-in lin&log lag, manual trigger button,
looping.....what are the 'finish loop' functions?

will its physical size fit with MOTM modules?

approx. price & availability?

thanks,
mark

The finish loop is one mode of the switch. If it's in GATED mode(top switch,
bottom position), then the second switch comes into play. In gated mode, the
module will loop from the start to end over and over while the gate is
active. When the gate is removed, there are two ways to complete the
envelope. The first way is to continue through all of the stages. That is
"FINISH LOOP" mode. The other way is to complete the current stage (could be
any number from 2 to 7) and then jump to stage 8 which is the final release
to zero. That is "RELEASE" mode.

It is a standard 2U (wide) MOTM module. Approx price was mentioned
yesterday, high $200's. (You know 279 to $299 range) pre-assembled and
tested. Approx availability is about 5 weeks if I can continue at my current
pace.

Hi Tony,

I was uncharacteristically silent during the "development phase" of your
module but I am interested in the UEG and all other unusual (and powerful)
modules. My question is, will this module (what, no kits?!) be generally
available after the release date (i.e., not a one time "buy it now" kinda
deal)? I haven't bought any synth kits/PCBs for several months now and have
some catching up to do before I start getting some new things.

BTW, I was really impressed with how well the old MOTM list dealt with the
development of your module -- one of the best uses for a list like this!

Since I'm still selling the first thing I've done, I think it is fairly safe
to say this module will be around for a while. (Unless it really sucks wind,
which I don't think it does...)
