could help you out. If I understand correctly, he has boards to convert
keyswitch data to midi data. If that doesn't work, you might be able to find a
Yamaha shs-10 really cheap on ebay ( I paid $5 for mine at a garage sale) It's a
mini keyboard that looks like a small version of a Roland AX-1 (lol) but it
has midi. you could slice and dice one of these for the electronics. the nice
thing is it'll run off batteries or a wall wart. -Nate

This is just the keyboard switches essentially. I would like to take the
