This can be a fun thing to play with, especially if you have some way to quantize the output for VCO use. Adding another four stages of binary counter makes it MUCH more complex in terms of output patterns. I built quite a few versions of this "way back when". They are a "semi random" sequencer type of device, because it's pretty hard to completely control the output. This can be a good thing, though...
