Yes, if it's labeled "Bypass," then up would be the labeled condition. If
it's labeled "Enable" or "On," then 'off' would be the down position. Does
that make any sense...?

Hmmm,

looking at the bypass switch....

Is there a convention in the US of 'up is always off'
or is it just this small Isle??

(Definitely not a complaint, just out of interest)
