Archeology

2001-02-18 by bruce@sigalarm.com

Well, I have been a build'in and a soldering lo these many days. And
as is sometimes the case with people who really need supervision, I am
"feeling my oats".

A year ago I moved from Kansas City, and ended up in a much smaller
house. Many good things are still in storage. Among them my heaving
pile of schematics.

I found some crazy stuff. Won't say what yet, but I am putting
together the mouser order now. Shame they are most likely not open on
Monday.

It would seem I need to find an IC that is labled (on the original
hand drawn schematic) 13600 or I3600 Can't tell which. Damn these
early forms of writing... It seems to have an op amp and a matched
transistor as part of it. I will let you guys know if the damn thing
works.

Thanks Paul.

I did more archeology, and in a box with the words "Vital Stuff" on
the side (from an even more ancient layer of strata) was some lovely
stuff. All the parts necessary to build 2 or 3 of these circuits. I
guess I had a clue about 10 years ago and ransacked Ace electronics in
the bay area for everything I needed.

Also in this box were some rather funky transistors. I remember
finding them there, TIS 97 and TIS 93. I think these go in Moog
circuits. At one point back then I even built the little circuit to
current match them, and had them all segregated as to who go to play
with whom.

Wish me luck, I hope this works!

RE: [motm] UEG manual online

2001-02-18 by Tony Karavidas

I have just complete the first draft of the manual for the Universal Event
Generator. It is available on the website in the "Manuals" area as a PDF
file. The version of this manual is 0.9

Please read it and offer feedback. It's 2:50AM and I'm a little tired right
now, so your feedback will be appreciated (tomorrow) I'll do another pass
before calling it "final." Once it's done, the rest of you will be receiving
your UEGs!

Thanks!

Also check out the product announcement of the UEG in the March 2001
Keyboard. Nice overview, but no mention that it is using the MOTM format; I
though this was a bit unusual....

There were a few suggestions and the manual is now at version 0.91.

I'm going to leave this version on the site until Monday night. The feedback
I've received so far is good. I'll take more until Monday, and then it will
be finalized.

Thanks for your support!

TIS97 is an older TI transistor (NPN) used in late model Minimoogs.

Man are the suggestions flying.

It's now up to 0.93, and getting better!

A few of you have indicated you cannot read PDF files. I have converted the
manual to HTML and posted it here:

http://www.encoreelectronics.com/motm/UEGManual.htm

The formatting is a little screwed up, but it's essentially all there. If
you've already downloaded the PDF file you can ignore this e-mail.

Thanks,

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
