Russell Brower interview

Russell Brower interview

2003-03-07 by Paul Schreiber

Russell is a music composer/sound designer for NovaLogic, a game publisher in CA. Their new game
"Black Hawk Down" is a blend of ethnic Middle Eastern instruments and MOTM. Check out the on-line
interview at:

http://www.novalogic.com/games/DFBHD/qa_sound.html

I had about 30 of the promo audio CD at NAMM, I hope NovaLogic will make more. Thanks to Russell
for the kind 'plug', and check out the 2 audio samples. I plan to post more of them soon, now
that the game appears to see the light of day :)

Russell got to have dinner with Tomita, I am *so* jealous!

I was fortunate enough to meet Russell and get one of the copies of the CD
at NAMM. I find the music very emotional. I can close my eyes and imagine
I am right in the middle of the game. Fantastic work Russell.

Thanks so much you guys. I hope that once the game hits the streets
(about 3/25) the soundtrack will go on sale at the company website.

We're in the office today, madly tweaking the thing for mastering on
Tuesday.

Regarding Tomita, for those who are interested in his work--- I
hired him to do some music for the Tokyo DisneySea theme park when I
was Musical Director at Imagineering. He's a very elegant and
gracious person, and while he speaks almost no English, we found we
could converse very effectively about music and synthesizers. :)

I told him all about MOTM, but I think he's very happy with his Moog
(and has no plans to put it on eBay...) :) After owning most
every high-end synth known to man, including a big Synclavier, he
still believes modular analog, layered painstakingly track by track,
to be the only way to properly express his music/arrangements.

I'll post a photo when I get some breathing time.

-Russell
