Last call for cables

Last call for cables

2003-03-08 by J. Larry Hendry

First of all, THANKS to everyone that has ordered cables. You have all made
this venture more successful than I had imagined. This weekend I will be:

Finalizing my order for suppliers
Calculating all shipping cost
Mailing out all invoices. (Please pay promptly as I am putting this over
$9,000 order on my credit card)

So, if you want cables at this time, I need your order today.

It has become apparent that I will not be able to do this only once. So, I
plan on adding cables permanently to the list of quality Stooge products. I
will probably solicit custom orders every 4 to 6 months depending on demand.
I will just take the wait and see approach. I cannot even consider stocking
the cables. Reason = you crazy guys and your color schemes. You guys have
ordered 272 different color / shrink /length combos and I still have 4
orders to post (including my own). So, custom order will be the only way to
go.

Monday I will be placing the order with suppliers

For those that like trivia:
The most popular cable combos (so far) are
# 1 = 2 foot blue black = 56
# 2 = 3 foot green black = 53
# 3 = 2 foot red / black = 51

Least popular is a 87-way tie as I have 87 different cables that so far are
only one of each.

I have devised a system to keep this all straight. Now, I just hope the
cable manufacturer can do the same.

Hmm - I used 2' blue, 3' green as part of a ROYGBIV scheme (or RYGBV
anyway) So, could these numbers indicate the rainbow spectrum camp
has edged out the resistor color code camp by a few points? (Or, I
guess it could be there are only a few in the rainbow spectrum camp
but those few ordered a ton of cables...)

Apparently, from the diversity of combinations I got, there are "several"
camps. :)

Since my work with modulars thus far has been limited to Clavia's
Nord Modular, I decided to stick with what I'm use to. Red for
audio, Blue for CV, Yellow for gate/trigger. This is what it
defaults to for the NM.

It was ROYGBV for me. Of course, I have a bunch of plain black cables
of all sizes already to screw up the scheme.
