Cases, just my idea...

Cases, just my idea...

2003-04-13 by Markk :-)

Here's what I have decided to do...
My setup will almost be duplicated like Roy Harter's case arrangement... similar to a Moog IIIP and then I will be expanding on it as time and money permit... so far I am ordering 3 Calzone 20space tall flight cases... that will hold 4 MOTM module vertically, and standard 19" space across, the only "customizing" I am having done is that the wheels for the cases will be on the back cover lid. so I will "lay" the case on it's back and wheel it around like a coffin.
I am mounting my power supplies in the back and out of the way... as far as reach is concerned, that's part of the planning of module placement... and that is just as "individualized" as we all order different colors of cables from Larry... but in knowing that I was indeed going to have long patches possible.... my first "batch" of cables the shortest I went with was 2' and 3' and a few 6' I love the challenge and the "dance" of patching and creating... it is 95% of the fun and creative process...
The flight cases will make my MOTM system cable for travel of any kind safely...
These are just my opinions and subject to change, prices may vary, see dealer for rebates, your mileage may vary... oom-pa oom-pa oom-pa di do !

Actually... I've found that the way that the boards are mounted at a right
angle to the panel makes them very prone to damage during transit. Problem
is that the connections, on the pots especially, become weakened if the rack
is chucked 15 feet in the air into air cargo hold, as is SOP for the
airlines I've come to find out. (For the record, Lufthansa seems to be the
worst offender, and Air France seems the kindest so far.) After making a few
tours with the modules racked, I've taken to instead wrapping each one
individually just like Paul mails them out -- bubble wrapped and in little
boxes. Then I lose another day on the other end of the flight re-assembling
everything. It's a real pisser, so much so that I'm seriously considering
using a sampler live instead for any tours requiring airflight.

Just fyi......

best,
- Scott
