for drum tirggers, cant you wire up some Piezo elements to a simple buffer and trigger shaper/lengthener circuit? Mount them under a piece of rubber or something, you could have a knob (or trimpot) to adjust sensitivity.. should be plenty of schemos online for something like this. Sure they wont be as nice as real V-Drum pads, but for what you need them for and for the cost, it may be something to look into..
