Does anyone know of and electronics stores around the Dallas/Fort Worth area that would carry Weller or equivalent soldering irons and electronics supplies? I'm just tired of the Radio Shack with only Radio Shack products. Thanks, Ti_

I got my weller at Fry's in Austin. Looks like there's one in Dallas too. http://www.frys.com Larry --- In motm@yahoogroups.com, "shari_en_jin" <shari_en_jin@...> wrote:

Me too. Fry's had a great price on the Weller WES51, better than mail order pricing. John Loffink The Microtonal Synthesis Web Site http://www.microtonal-synthesis.com The Wavemakers Synthesizer Web Site http://www.wavemakers-synth.com

(But hey, that doesn't mean that you should like the Shack any more than the rest of us. Not that there's a better national electronics chain...) Didn't Weller make some Shack irons of yore? -- john

Aw snap! I finally broke down today and ordered a WTCPT and one of them handy lead bending guides from Mouser. I had no idea Radio Shack was based out of F.W., but I do have one of the Radio Shack 15/30 watt irons that got me through my first project, a Paia Theremax. Even toward the end when I really started to get the hang of soldering I could definately tell the difference between one solder and the next as far as the tip temp not really being too constant. Especially when I got to soldering the lugs on the pots and jacks!
