Colored Washers

2010-06-23 by rogerpellegrini

Arigoth recently sold a module that (previously) sported colored washers on the jacks. I think this is a terrific idea, as I personally find the ergonomics of the MOTM panel style a problem. Where would one find these washers? Do they interfere with proper grounding?

Thanks,

Have you seen neandrewthal's great synth with all the colored jacks? Lot's

It's not just the washers. The nut and washer are both colored. Let's
ask him about it on Muffs. I bet he paints them. And if he does, how
does he tighten the nut without damaging the paint?

Maybe he's using plastic nuts like these:

I think this came up on SDIY a while back, in context of tightening nuts and not scratching the panel - Ian Fritz iirc said he uses a plastic shopping bag. Thin enough to grip the nut, just thick enough for the driver not to not damage the panel. Same idea would work for protecting nuts wouldn't it?

It was a certain Tristan in the "Non-marring nut drivers" thread
from 2009-10-03.

Tried it. It works very well. A piece of thick PE bag is pretty
good for tightening a 1/2" nut with a 13 mm socket spanner.
