The 3310 is my choice for my breadboard VC EG because I have several (at
least 5) tucked away. Also, I thought I saw Paul offering them again recently
(though at market value), so others could try this out. Furthermore, I also
have suffered a severe setback in the electronics competence area of my life
by not being able to get my MOTM 800 "clones" working properly, or figure out
the problem. I have seen some VC EGs based on CMOS ICs (maybe 4066 or 4053),
but I'd prefer to make something that will actually work.

Why no VC sustain? But there IS VC sustain! A single unattenuated VC sustain
input (along with one each of VC A, VC D, VC R), but I also find VC sustain
much less interesting than changing the slopes of envelopes -- fine for the
hoi poloi, but the sophisticated, martini swilling modular user needs more sub
tle VC EGs. When I used the old EMu modular, which had five stage VC
Transient Generators, I found I rarely used anything other than VC Lag, or VC
Sustain -- but then again, there was no velocity CV outputs from the keyboard
(or anywhere else), and there was nothing like a pressure sensitive output
anywhere. These typically had a very gimmicky effect.

BTW, obviously just taking the velocity output (for example) and plugging it
into a VC Frequency input to a VCF (for example) can also provide some useful
effects -- I doubt this is news to anyone out there.

Thanks, though I usually try not to drink before I get out of bed, or at
least, before I wake up!

Yeah!

I have a schematic for EG from Tom Henry's book that seems nice that does
not use specialty IC and still has a low part count. I don't have the book
at home right now. I assume TH would not mind me copying that and sending
it to you since he has decided not to sell the book any longer.

50% of my alcohol consumption comes on the two days a year I play golf
(charity tournaments). One of them starts at 7:30, so you have to learn to
drink early. Every get stuck in a sand trap (and I don't mean the ball)?

Is it late? I didn't notice. I just finished drilling a 1U MOTM panel
into a simple 4 X 4 multiple. I used nice heavy masking tape, laid out the
connecting lines (4 boxes, obviously) and used white spray paint to apply
them. It came out quite nice. The painting part was more trouble than the
drilling. Dang, I'm outta jacks again. Time for another Allied / Mouser
order.

P.S. That joystick panel is my next drillin' project.

Well, it would be nice if Doug could find some more 3310s, and nice to see
them end up in some MOTM modules.

That's odd! 50% of my alcohol consumption is just before I send e-mails to
the MOTM list -- the other 50% is just before I figure out what features
future MOTM modules should have. Though, installing my old radio in my "new"
truck may cause me to increase my consumption substantially.

Hey! Wasn't I supposed to drill a similar panel for PaulBr? I may be totally
wrong....

I'd be very interested to hear what this panel is about, and how it develops.

hello all,
i've found the best method for putting markings to diy panels, is to use dry
transfer lettering / letraset, then apply three layers of motor vehicle
spray lacquer - the letraset won't shift under that lot
however, the downside for motm purists is that you end up with a nice shiny
panel
