serge peak and trough schemo / faceplate graphic

2000-07-04 by davevosh@aol.com

to the list -
i know a couple of folks out there have serge "tkb"`s but does anyone have
any other serge modules ? do you have a panel/rack with some blank space ( i
guess that means pre-sts ) ? while rooting around in some old papers, i came
across a schematic of the old serge peak and trough module that serge had
sent me years ago in answer to a question about it. i`d gladly share a copy
of the schematic with anyone who wants one. plus, he found a faceplate legend
( if you know old serge stuff, the graphics were printed on ( i guess )
contact paper to be applied to the metal panels in your chosen layout ). i
still have this, too, so if you have a dual space in your panel, please
contact me and i`ll send you the faceplate legend and a copy of the
schematic. to anyone else interested in the schamatic on a d.i.y. basis, send
me a s.a.s.e. and i`ll be glad to send you a copy. just let me know......
best,

Funny you should mention this, I've spent several hours over the past week
trying to make some full panel size decals to cover my old Serge panels which
house my diy stuff (I'm trying to bond a legended transparency to some steel
gray card stock -- no luck as yet, air bubbles and the like, much more
difficult than I thought it would be). I should point out that I also have a
few Serge decals (VCFQ, DSG, Universal Audio Processor) which I can't imagine
being able to use, unless STS starts selling individual module kits again,
which I assume is highly unlikely. Maybe I could just use some CEM ICs and
slap the decals on the front.

Let me know what you want to do Dave.

john,
i`m not sure what you meant by this - ? did you want a copy of the peak /
trough schematic ? it is very simple and would be a good d.i.y. project.
from years back, when i built my late lamented serge, i ,too, found it tricky
to get the panel graphics on nicely. i ended up sticking on the top edge then
gently peeling down and following over it with a roller ( i used a "d" cell
for the smaller modules and bought a length of dowel to cut to 3 and 4 spaces
for the larger modules ). this seemed to work pretty well as far as surface
contact and getting rid of air bubbles.
re : other graphics you might have - well, you could kludge up a vcf from cem
chips that would pretty much match the vcf but for the more esoteric modules
like the "dsg" i`m not sure that would work.
best,
dave v.
