There is another reason as well. It makes it *harder* to cinch the leads
before soldering.

I'll add one more good reason. I have even avoided the very cheap lead
bender and still resort to hand bending. I do this for the same reason, I
play music and ride my motorcycle 50 MHP on 2 lane roads -- Therapy!! This
old world moves too fast at work these days. So, I find I want MOTM time to
move slow and easy. Bending my own leads is a part of that. Did I mention
I check every resistor with my meter? Did I mention I stop about every 10
solder joints to clip the leads and inspect the connection top and bottom
with a jewelers eyeglass? what do you call them thangs anyhow? loups?

Slow down gents and enjoy the fumes.

I for one would rather spend my time playing the synth than building it.
I've built enough electronic things in my life so that the novelty of solding
has long since vanished. Well maybe the first couple of MOTM modules were
kind of fun. The solder fumes always bring up memories of the past when you
haven't soldered in a while. Kind of like model glue when you haven't built
a model in years. But I just can't take your advice. Each new batch of
modules I get, my assembly line techniques become more effecient. I have too
many other things I'd rather be doing.

Well, as they say, "different strokes for different folks."
